What is algo trading?
Algo trading is a set of instructions, usually computerized, to buy and sell instruments in the futures, forex and stock markets
What is a simple algo trading system?
A super simple algo trading strategy: If price crosses above the 200 day moving average, buy. Sell when price crosses below 200 day average.
How does algo trading differ from chart or discretionary trading?
Chart traders and discretionary traders take many factors into account, which may include hunches, intuition and other criteria not easily programmed. Algo trading, by contrast, has rigidly defined rules, and can easily be historically tested (backtested) to see if the algo trading strategy was profitable in the past.
Is it easy to succeed in algo trading?
Algo trading is difficult, just like most other types of trading. It takes hard work, dedication, practice and trading and programming skills in order to succeed. Algo trading success is indeed possible, but is not simple.
